Pursuant to the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act (Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 1-200 et seq.), I am requesting access to records held by the University of Connecticut from January 1, 2024 through May 13, 2025, concerning university communications and documentation related to the planning, promotion, and execution of the AlumnAI speaker series, specifically:
The event featuring Rojaun Samuda (April 25, 2025)
The event featuring Timothy Black (May 2, 2025)
Specifically, I am requesting:
All email communications (including attachments and drafts) related to the development, planning, marketing, and coordination of the AlumnAI series.
Internal meeting notes, memos, event proposals, project management documents, or slide presentations discussing AlumnAI.
Communications within or between the following offices:
The Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills
The School of Computing
UConn Communications and Marketing
Event coordination offices
Office of the Provost
Office of the President
Any discussions involving:
Speaker selection and outreach (including communications with Rojaun Samuda and Timothy Black)
Budget or resource allocation for the AlumnAI events
Strategy discussions regarding UConn’s public messaging on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), or entrepreneurship
Any marketing content creation (drafts, flyers, emails, social media posts)
Scope Clarifications:
This request includes but is not limited to communications through university-operated:
Email systems
Microsoft Teams
Slack channels
Internal planning software
Shared drives or intranet systems
External Parties:
If any external firms, public relations consultants, event vendors, alumni networks, or external marketing services were engaged to assist with the AlumnAI events, communications with these entities should be included.
Delivery Format:
Please provide responsive records in electronic format where available.
If any portion of this request is denied, please provide a written explanation citing the specific legal exemption and describing the appeals process.
Fee Waiver Request:
Given the significant public interest in how public universities engage with Artificial Intelligence, entrepreneurship promotion, and student-facing innovation initiatives, I respectfully request a waiver of any associated fees.
Strict Deadline:
Please note this request is time-sensitive. Full or partial production must be delivered no later than 4:00 PM EST, Monday, May 13, 2025.
Failure to comply will result in immediate formal complaint filing with the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission (FOIC) without further warning.
