Name: Alexa Podalsky`

Affiliation: Boston University

Location: UConn Storrs

Request Date Start: 09/01/2022

Request Date End: 03/31/2025

Details: Hello,
My name is Alexa Podalsky, a student journalist at Boston University. My partner, Erica Schwartz, and I are requesting the following data about athletics at UConn:
Any and all information detailing the spending/expenditures of UConn athletics, including but not limited to facilities, operation costs, and scholarship costs.
Please let me know if I can modify this request to better match your record-keeping and/or speed up the response. I am grateful for your assistance and want to ensure our request is efficient for everyone.
I am requesting the records in a machine-readable, electronic format on the assumption that you keep this information in a searchable and analyzable format for accessibility purposes. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents. If the records are not available in a searchable and analyzable electronic format, I will accept them in whatever form you maintain them.
I request you waive any fees to disclose this information, as I seek this information in the public interest. I seek the records as a student journalist in the JO 521 Data Journalism class at Boston University. In the past, students from this class have reported, produced, and published statewide pieces in major publications including GBH and the Boston Globe about the racist history of the freedom trail and the impact of urban farming.
I am seeking this information for non-commercial use, as part of a routine newsgathering process. I expect to use it to prepare and publish news stories distributed to the public. I believe the records I am requesting will help the public in your state better understand the operations of your agency. If you decline to waive fees, please let me know if the cost will exceed $25.
We are requesting this data as student journalists of Boston University, and expect it to be used to benefit the public. We expect these records in an electronic, machine-readable format.
Let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you.
Thank you,
Alexa Podalsky
