Details: Pursuant to Connecticut's Freedom of Information Act (Chapter 14 Conn. Gen. Stats.), I am requesting the following documents from your university’s athletics department:
Any memos or mass email communications sent to staff or student-athletes (including on internal chat platforms such as Teamworks) for the week of 10/4/2025 to 10/11/2025 that relates to the NCAA’s recent vote on allowing student-athletes to gamble on professional sports.
A copy of any PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, or memos given to student athletes that cover university policy around gambling on sports.
A sample [or redacted] copy of any agreement, separate from any student-athlete handbooks, that the university gives to student-athletes surrounding gambling on sports.
A copy of any pages in the university's student athlete handbook that relate to the university's policy on gambling. If your student-athlete handbook is online, providing a link to the document is acceptable.
Please note that Connecticut law requires public agencies to respond to requests within four days of receiving them by either processing or denying the request, or providing written notice requesting an extension.
As I am an independent journalist engaged in legitimate newsgathering, I am requesting a fee waiver of any associated costs with this request. In lieu of a fee waiver, I am requesting a detailed invoice of any potential costs, if any, associated with this request.
