Pursuant to the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act (Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 1-200 et seq.), I am formally requesting access to records related to internal and external public relations strategy, media messaging, and third-party communications services procured by the University of Connecticut from 2022 to 2025.
Specifically, I am requesting:
All communications (emails, memos, Teams messages, or meeting minutes) involving University Communications, the Office of the President, or any contracted public relations firms that reference or discuss:
Messaging and public relations strategy regarding the 2025 athletic championship parade or related events
Internal or external messaging regarding the student housing shortage or waitlist management
Efforts to shape or influence public perception following athletic victories, institutional rankings, or campus-wide controversies
Copies of all contracts, scopes of work, invoices, or payment records for any external public relations, communications, or marketing firms retained by the university between January 1, 2022, and April 30, 2025.
Any reports, deliverables, or presentation materials provided by said firms to UConn leadership regarding university image, crisis communications, or brand narrative during this period.
Please provide all responsive records in digital format. If any portion of this request is denied or redacted, I request that you cite the specific exemption under Connecticut law and provide the appeals process.
Given the strong public interest in institutional transparency and the allocation of public and student resources toward communications strategy, I respectfully request a waiver of any associated fees.
